For Schools/Partners:
Connecting to the Future - Commit Today. Change Tomorrow.
The Career Place Youth Division partners with area schools, community-based organizations and businesses to create opportunities for teens and young adults in need of career education and training options. The programs administered through The Career Place Youth Division enhance access to integrated learning environments, high-quality early work experience, and civic engagement. Participants are guided to make educated decisions for their occupational, academic and social futures. Our programs include: |
|
- Bridging the Opportunity Gap
- Our goal is to help youth from the Department of Youth Services to reenter their communities as productive individuals and to assist them to begin to achieve their personal, educational, and career goals.
- Connecting Activities
- Individual and classroom-based activities build job-readiness skills and help students develop plans for the future. Participants connect with businesses through company tours, job shadow events, internships, guest speaker forums, and job placement assistance.
- Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Youth Services
- A year-round federal program geared for youth (ages 14-21) who have either dropped out of high school or need help preparing for the GED test. The program emphasizes the attainment of basic skills competencies, enhances opportunities for academic and occupational training, and provides exposure to the job market and employment.
- Job Openings for Youth
- The Career Place youth counselors work closely with local employers to identify current job openings. These opportunities introduce young people to leading industries and business leaders in the community, and empower them to make more educated decisions for their academic, occupational and social futures. By providing these opportunities, employers make a direct impact on our future workforce while meeting their specific staffing needs.
- Job Fairs
- The Career Place is pleased to host job fairs at local schools and community centers.
- Pathways to Success - MCAS
- Career planning and MCAS support services for senior or post-senior students who did not meet their school graduation or diploma requirements due to their MCAS scores.
- Tailored Services
- Specialized services, including small group, two-hour workshops focusing on career exploration, job search, computer training, and life skills.
